A couple from Thousand Oaks headed to Las Vegas this past weekend for a fun getaway and to enjoy live music. Their vacation immediately turned into an unimaginable nightmare when 64-year-old Stephen Paddock opened fire on the thousands of concertgoers from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay high-rise hotel.
Keri Galvan, 31-years-old, died in her husband's arms. She was the mother of three young children - all under the age of 11 - and was described by many as being a supportive and loving mother.
"She was an amazing supermom - that's what you could best describe her as," the victim's younger sister Lindsey Poole said.
Top news of the day
Keri Galvan and her husband, Justin Galvan - a former U.S. Marine who served in Iraq - were just within 100 yards of the stage when Paddock opened fire.
"Jason Aldean ran off the stage and everyone started running away," Justin Galvan said. "We hit the floor."
The loving mother of three was struck by a bullet in the head, causing her death.
"I didn't notice right away," Justin Galvan said. "I started CPR right away and I did everything I could."
Justin said he and their three children will be taking each day as it comes.
