Thousands of Dollars Worth of Jewelry Stolen in Smash-and-Grab Robbery

The men used sledge hammers to smash a display case and made off with jewelry worth $3,000 to $5,000

Four men used sledge hammers and stole jewelry worth thousands of dollars Monday in a smash and grab robbery of a vendor at the Indoor Swapmeet of Stanton.

The rapid heist occurred about 6:15 p.m. at Grace Jewelry, a vendor at the swap meet at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Cerritos Avenue, according to Lt. Lane Legaret of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The suspects, described only as four black males who arrived and fled in a green Nissan or Honda sedan or coupe, used sledge hammers to smash a display case and made off with jewelry worth $3,000 to $5,000, Legaret said.

No injuries were reported, the lieutenant said.
