Toddler Reunited With Family After He's Left on Playground

A toddler who was found wandering a playground in Gardena Thursday afternoon was in the process of being reunited with his parents.

The 2 to 3-year-old boy was found on the playground at Denker Elementary School around 2:45 p.m., according to the Gardena Police Department. He was not speaking to and did not know his name, police said.

Officers were going door to door to see if they could find his parents, but no one they spoke to recognized the boy.

After police put out a notice to the community, they were able to find the toddler's family. The boy's babysitter was in charge of picking up other children at the school and did not nice that she had left him behind when she left, the Gardena Police Department said.

The department said it would "make sure that proper steps are taken so this won't happen again."
