A 32-year-old registered sex offender was sentenced Monday to 15 years to life in prison for sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl on a Torrance elementary school playground.
Dalan Anthony Johnson of Torrance pleaded no contest to one count of forcible lewd act on a child under the age of 14, according to the District Attorney's Office.
The assault occurred March 28, after the girl was dropped off at Lincoln Elementary School. Johnson was on parole at the time and wearing a court-ordered monitoring bracelet around his ankle.
The girl told her parents the same day, and they informed the Torrance Unified School District. Police said they reviewed surveillance footage showing the defendant was on campus for less than a minute.
Johnson was arrested the following day.
The defendant was previously convicted in 2015 of committing a lewd act on a child under 14 and for indecent exposure in 2016, according to the District Attorney's Office.
