Two Teens Stabbed in Brawl Outside Santa Ana School

Two teens were stabbed outside a Santa Ana school Friday afternoon during a brawl that involved about 20 people, most of them apparently juveniles.

The fight broke out around 3 p.m. in front of Community Day School in the 500 block of Fairview Street, shortly after the school day ended, Cpl. Anthony Bertagna of the Santa Ana Police Department said.

A 13-year-old and a 17-year-old were both stabbed during the melee.

The fight began when two students were assaulted by people not associated with the campus, said Deidra Powell, spokeswoman for Santa Ana Unified School District.

Both victims suffered multiple stab wounds and were transported to a hospital, Powell said.

The suspects fled on foot, but were later taken into custody by police.

Investigators said they found some of the kids involved in the fight hiding in backyards in the neighborhood.

Vikki Vargas and Rosa Ordaz contributed to this report.
