UC Irvine Students Warned After Sex Assault Reported

Police said the victim met her attacker through a social media site.

Campus police at University of California, Irvine are warning students after a woman was sexually assaulted inside a residence hall by a man she met through social media.

The suspect, described as between 5 foot 8 inches and 5 foot 9 inches tall and weighing about 145 pounds, has not been arrested. He is believed to be 19 years old, with black hair, a thick accent and black ear plug piercings in both ears.

In a statement Wednesday, the University of California, Irvine Police Department said the victim reported that on Nov. 21, she was forcibly fondled by the man.

“It can be assumed that crimes of a similar nature could continue to occur since the suspect has not been arrested,” the statement read. “Members and guests of the UCI community should take precautions.”
