A UC Irvine student was approached Tuesday by a man who attempted to get her into his SUV, first by coaxing her, and when she refused, by threatening her, police said.
The student, whose name was not releaed, was approached by the unidentified suspect about 5:40 a.m. in the 200 block of Arroyo Drive, according to UC Irvine police.
The suspect, who was driving an older-model Toyota Rav4, asked the student if she needed a ride. When she told him she did not, he said he had a gun and she continued to refuse to get into the car, police said.
The suspect drove off west on Arroyo Drive toward California Avenue.
