Vince Vaughn Charged in Alleged Early-Summer DUI

Actor Vince Vaughn has been charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence after he was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint in Manhattan Beach earlier this summer, prosecutors announced Friday.

Vaughn, 48, was charged with one count each of driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, driving with .08 percent blood alcohol content or higher and refusing to comply with a peace officer or to submit to an inspection, all misdemeanors.

He is expected to be arraigned Sept. 10 in Department 3 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Torrance Branch.

Vaughn was stopped at about 12:40 a.m. on June 10 at a checkpoint at Artesia Boulevard and Prospect Avenue in Manhattan Beach. Vaughn was allegedly asked repeatedly to get out of his vehicle but he refused, prosecutors said.

His passenger, a male, was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication as well as resisting, delaying or obstructing police, Manhattan Beach Police Sgt. Matt Sabosky said.

Vaughn is known for his roles in such films as "Swingers," "Wedding Crashers" and "Hacksaw Ridge."
