West Hollywood Celebrates 2019 LA Pride Festival: Street Closures

Several streets in West Hollywood and Hollywood are closed this weekend as LA Pride Week concludes with a two-day festival and Sunday's L.A. Pride Parade.

The two-day L.A. Pride Festival began Saturday and continues Sunday on and around San Vicente Boulevard between Melrose Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard.

Street closures began at 7 p.m. Thursday on San Vicente between Melrose Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard and the roadway will remain off-limits until 10 a.m. Monday.

Most of the other closures go into effect at 5 a.m. Sunday to accommodate the annual Pride Parade, which is scheduled 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. along Santa Monica Boulevard between Fairfax Avenue and Doheny Drive.

This year's theme is #JustUnite. The festivities also coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, a series of violent confrontations in and around the Stonewall Inn in New York that is widely credited with sparking the campaign for LGBTQ rights.

Singers Paula Abdul, Meghan Trainor, Ashanti, Amara La Negra and the British electronic pop trio Years & Years are among those expected to perform.

For the first time, the city of West Hollywood is teaming up with L.A. Pride organizers to sponsor a free-to-the-public "Pride on the Boulevard" including exhibitors, local artists, DJs, beer gardens, carnival-style rides and a health and wellness fair.

Other street closures include:

  • Santa Monica Boulevard eastbound between Hancock Avenue and Robertson Boulevard as of 10 a.m. Friday
  • Santa Monica Boulevard westbound between Hancock Avenue and Robertson Boulevard beginning at 9.m. today
  • Robertson Boulevard between Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose Avenue beginning at 9 a.m. today
  • Santa Monica Boulevard in both directions from Fairfax Avenue to Doheny Drive beginning at 5 a.m. Sunday

Additional information on street closures, parking and a complete schedule of events is available at lapride.org and weho.org/pride.
