Hold on to your hats, a high wind warning is in effect until Thursday afternoon near the San Gabriel Mountains, according to the National Weather Service.
The warning goes into effect Tuesday at 2 p.m. with an expectation of winds from 25 to 40 mph and gusts up to 60 mph, according to the NWS.
Forecasters warned the northwest to northeast winds could cause property damage by knocking down trees and power lines.
Driving could also be more difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles, along the 5 Freeway where the worst of the winds were expected to hit.
"The wind will be the strongest in the high desert and up across the mountains, initially coming out of the north and then shifting to more of a northeast wind on Wednesday and Thursday," NBC4 Meteorologist Crystal Egger said.
Winds of 58 mph or greater were "likely or imminent," the NWS said in a statement.
A high wind watch was also scheduled in inland areas of Orange County -- from late Tuesday through Thursday afternoon.
