A 21-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday for allegedly driving drunk when she crashed head-on into a car, killing its driver who was returning home after visiting her premature twins in a hospital.
The crash was reported at 11:49 p.m. on Oct. 6 on Golden Valley Road, just south of Valley Center Drive, according to Shirley Miller, public information officer at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Santa Clarita Valley Station.
The victim was identified as Katie Evans, 37, of Santa Clarita, according to coroner's Lt. Brian Kim.
Evans' husband Jacob Evans told reporters the mother of six was returning from a hospital, where she had been visiting her twin daughters, who were born prematurely in August, when the collision occurred.
According to Miller, Evans was driving north on Golden Valley Road when a southbound vehicle driven by 21-year-old Alexia Cina of Canyon Country crossed the center median and hit Evans' car head-on.
Evans was pronounced dead at the scene.
A third vehicle struck the two Hondas involved in the initial crash, sheriff's Lt. Rob Hahnlein said.

One person suffered critical injuries and another suffered minor injuries in the secondary crash, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
"Santa Clarita Valley Station traffic investigators responded to the scene and determined alcohol appeared to be a factor in the (first) collision," Miller said.
Toxicology results revealed Cina had a blood alcohol content of .21, well above the legal limit of .08, Miller said.
Cina was arrested on suspicion of felony vehicular manslaughter and felony driving under the influence, causing injury, Miller said.
"She was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station jail with her bail set at $200,000," Miller said.
Cina remained in custody this evening at the station, according to sheriff's online inmate information.
