Tustin police on Tuesday were searching for a man who is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in the bushes near a gated community one night earlier.
The assault was reported about 8:45 p.m. Monday near Township Drive and Rawlings Way, near a Tustin Ranch gated estate, Tustin Police Lt. Robert Wright said.
The suspect was identified as Samuel Ostgaard, 22, of Silverado, police said.
Police first said the alleged assault took place inside the gated community, but Wright later said it's not clear whether it happened in or beyond the gates.
The incident did not appear to be random and the pair may have known each other, but police did not provide details on the extent of their relationship.
"There is something, some evidence that shows something brought those two together, so there's no concern for the community that there is someone hunting someone down or preying on strangers in that area," Wright said.
