Mother Allegedly Assaulted by Boyfriend Dies From Injuries

The suspect, 32-year-old Michael Robles, was arrested at the scene.

A mother who was violently assaulted by the father of her child died from her injuries Thursday and the man was arrested in the attack, authorities said.

The assault was reported about 10:20 a.m. Wednesday in the 6200 block of Lanto Street, according to Deputy Trina Schrader of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which is assisting the Bell Gardens Police Department in the investigation.

Police dispatched to the location received a call regarding a medical rescue, Schrader said.

When officers arrived, they found the victim lying in the front yard of the residence. The woman had visible injuries to her upper body, Schrader said.

She was taken to a hospital in extremely critical condition, according to Schrader. She was pronounced dead around 2 p.m. Thursday, authorities said.

The attack was preceded by an argument between the woman and her live-in boyfriend who also is the father of her child, Schrader said.

The suspect, identified by authorities as 32-year-old Michael Robles, was arrested at the scene for assaulting the victim, Schrader said, and charges have been amended to murder.

Robles is being held in lieu of $2 million bail, according to Schrader.
