Woman Sexually Assaulted in Apartment Laundry Room by Man Armed With Knife

The attacker, armed with a knife, approached the woman from behind and sexually assaulted her, police said.

A woman was sexually assaulted by a man armed with a knife in the laundry room of her Long Beach apartment complex, authorities said Monday.

The attack was at 11 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of East Seventh Street, Long Beach police Lt. Abram Yap said. After arriving at the scene, officers found a woman reporting that she had been sexually assaulted while in a shared laundry room at the apartment complex, police said.

The attacker, armed with a knife, approached the woman from behind and sexually assaulted her and then ran away before authorities arrived, police said. Detectives obtained surveillance video in the area and released images of the suspected attacker running from the scene.

The assailant was described as 20-25 years old, 5 feet to 5 feet 3 inches tall, with a small build and all dark clothing, Yap said.

Anyone who sees the man or has information should call Long Beach police at 562-435-6711.
