Woman Found Stabbed to Death Across the Street from LAPD Station

Police say the woman's body was found in a parking lot between a 7-Eleven and a car wash.

A woman was found stabbed to death in a Pacoima parking lot across the street from a Los Angeles Police Department station Wednesday night.

Officers arrived on the scene at 7:15 p.m. after witness discovered the body of the victim, who was in her 40s, between a 7-Eleven and a car wash just 50 yards from the LAPD's Foothill Division, officials said.

Investigators believe she was stabbed to death in the area, and then dumped in the parking lot. Details regarding the attacker's description were not immediately available, and detectives are examining surveillance footage for clues. They also said evidence from witnesses would be crucial to solving the case.

"It is unusual for someone to be so brazen and kill someone across from a police station... obviously  they had a goal in mind and they accomplished that goal, however they had to do it," LAPD detective Michael Berretta said.

Investigators have yet to rule out the murder being a gang-related incident.
