Woman Fatally Stabbed Near USC Campus

The stabbing was not connected to the university, campus officials said

A woman was fatally stabbed blocks from the University of Southern California campus on Friday night, police said.

The stabbing was reported about 7:50 p.m. near Budlong Avenue and 36th Place, according to the Los Angeles Police Department .

The university sent out an alert telling students and staff to stay away from the area during "police-related incident in progress."

The woman died at a hospital, and police were still searching for her attackers, officials said.

Campus officials said the stabbing was not related to the university. Additional details were not immediately available.
