Would-Be Robber Fatally Shot By Taco Stand Employee in South LA

An armed man who allegedly attempted to rob a taco stand Friday night in South Los Angeles was shot and killed by a worker, police said.

The shooting was reported just after 11:45 p.m. near the intersection of S. San Pedro Street and E. Century Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police said at least one employee "defended himself" and shot the armed man multiple times after he and two other men tried to rob their taco stand. It was unclear if the worker used his own gun or was able to disarm the suspect, police said.

The man was transported to a hospital where he was in critical condition. The man later died at the hospital.

The two other suspects fled the scene.

No other injuries were reported.
