And So, It Begins: Apple Fans Wait for iPad

The first Apple fans start to line up to wait for the new iPad

It was just a matter of time, and we were beginning to wonder what was taking so long -- the first Apple fans have lined up for the new iPad.

SlashGear.com stumbled across Ali and Zohaib kicking off the line at Apple’s Regent Street store in London.

The pair are not new to Apple lines for new products. They told the website they stood in line for days for the most recent iPhone and enjoy the experience.

"Some people are crazy!!" tweeted Maaike Brinkhof.

"Seriously, how much more ridiculous can this get?" tweeted Ritesh Tripathy.

The lines could get much more ridiculous. Apple reports that it has sold out of pre-orders for the new iPads, but intend to have some for sale at brick-and-mortar stores.

"Customer response to the new iPad has been off the charts and the quantity available for pre-order has been purchased," Apple said in a statement. "Customers can continue to order online and receive an estimated delivery date."
