Beach Cities Health District

Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) is the largest preventive health agency in the nation, and has served the communities of Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach since 1955. It offers an extensive range of dynamic health and wellness programs, with innovative services and facilities to promote health and prevent diseases in every lifespan - from pre-natal and children to families and older adults. Under supervision of BCHD management, a volunteer corps of more than 650 people contributes 40,000 hours of service to the beach cities community every year.

The LiveWell Kids Program is an obesity prevention program in the eight RBUSD elementary schools that combines nutrition education, garden education, physical activity and parent education. Garden Angels well tend to the eight elementary school gardens to ensure the gardens maintain in "good health" for the students participating in the garden classes. Volunteer opportunities available with older adults include assistance with errands and basic movements, as well as creating opportunities for social interaction as a conversation companion.  To volunteer, click here.
