People in Orange County have known for years how much fun the OC Fair is. Now the rest of the country knows, too.
The magazine based the ranking on attendance.
OC Fair and Event Center President and CEO, Steve Beazley, said 2010 was the highest-attended fair in the event's 120-year history, the Orange County Register reports, with more than 500,000 people walking through the gates.
The theme for the 2011 Fair is "Let's Eat!"
But it isn't all corn dogs and rides.
The future of the Orange County fairgrounds and the fair itself remain uncertain.
The state agreed in October to sell the Orange County fairgrounds to a private company for $100 million, the Register reported.
But the 4th District Court of Appeal has issued a restraining order blocking the sale until Feb. 8, when it is scheduled to hear arguments in the case, the newspaper reported.
Earlier this month, Gov. Jerry Brown requested an additional 30 days to consider the merits of a proposed sale of the fairgrounds, reports the Orange County Register.
Right now the fair is scheduled to run from July 15 through Aug. 14.
