Sexually Violent Predator's Location is Unknown

Authorities in Lake Elsinore Have Lost Track of a Registered Sex Offender, 24 Hours After he First Moved into the Area

Earlier this week, Lake Elsinore police police notified the public that a 58-year-old "sexually violent predator" had moved into an apartment complex there, the Press-Enterprise reported.

Now authorities say the man has moved out.

Robert Eugene Tighe was convicted of kidnapping, raping and robbing three women in San Diego County in 1979 and 1980, a Riverside County Sheriff's Department news release said, as reported by the Press-Enterprise.

Tighe abducted the women at gunpoint, then drove them to remote locations and sexually assaulted them before driving off with their cars and leaving them stranded, the release said.

Tighe had moved in with a relative this week at the Lakeview Apartments at 32211 Riverside Drive, Sgt. Patrick Chavez told the newspaper.

He is a registered sex offender but is not currently on parole.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department issued an alert Monday, informing the community that Tighe would be relocating to Lake Elsinore from San Diego County.

When apartment management discovered Tighe had a prior felony conviction, he was asked to leave and immediately moved out.

It wasn't immediately known whether he is still in the area

By law, convicted sex offenders are required to keep local law enforcement officials informed about where they're living at all times.
