A former Los Angeles Police Department officer pleaded not guilty Monday to murder and other charges stemming from an alleged DUI crash that killed a young man and his parents on the 605 Freeway in Santa Fe Springs nearly two years ago.

Speaking to cadets from an LAUSD magnet school, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck admits he eluded to bad choices his own officers are accused of doing over the last several weeks.

An LAPD officer was charged with three counts each of murder and vehicular manslaughter, and one count each of driving under the influence stemming from a September 2017 crash.
