A Chihuahua puppy mix was shot through the neck with an arrow in Desert Hot Springs today, requiring emergency surgery that veterinarians believe will be successful in saving the pup’s life.

A 13-year-old cat whose owner recently died in Riverside was bound for a reunion with his former owner on Thursday, thanks to assistance from the Riverside County Department of Animal Services and other entities.
