A Free and Festive Music Center Tradition

It's a come-one-come-all free holiday sing-along in a classic LA setting.

Singing and dancing, for free, at the Music Center Plaza is a staple of summertime. If someone isn't doing the Hustle or warbling a Beatles tun on some warm Friday night, it hardly seems like July in Los Angeles.

Which means that the annual Music Center Holiday Sing-Along can sneak up on one, a bit. It's in the winter, as the word "holiday" indicates, and it isn't in a series like its summertime brethren.

But, like its summertime brethren, it is free. It's set for Friday, Dec. 21.

Tickets will be required, despite the evening's free-ness, so be sure to nab those on the day of. Also, lyrics sheets will be handed out, but we're just betting you know a lot of the words to "Jingle Bells," "Christmas Time Is Here," and "The Twelve Days of Christmas" (well, practically everybody accidentally jumps to the drummers drumming when they mean the maids a-milking, so perhaps those lyric sheets will come in handy).

Keep in mind, though, that this is not summertime, so you'll need to scarf it up. And if you don't see a Santa hat or two in the crowd, we'll eat our lyrics sheet. Well, not really. We need to know all the words to "The Twelve Days of Christmas."

If you return to the area on Monday, Dec. 24, you can catch another free tradition: The LA County Holiday Celebration. It marks its 53rd year at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Christmas Eve.
