GLENDALE, Calif. -- A big rig carrying produce crashed into the center divider on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Glendale Tuesday, blocking the No. 1 and 2 lanes at the start of the morning commute, authorities said.
The crash on the northbound Golden State Freeway just south of Western Avenue was reported just before 4:30 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos.
The driver of the semi crashed into the center divider, and the truck's trailer somehow became detached, he said.
The trailer, which was loaded with produce, was left leaning up against the center wall, Villalobos said.
"The produce must be loaded off before they can upright the trailer," he said.
No one was injured in the crash, he said, adding that the cause of the crash was under investigation.
The Nos. 1 and 2 northbound lanes were expected to remain blocked until at least 8:15 a.m., the CHP reported.
