CicLAvia Announces 2014 Routes

Where are you going to roll, Los Angeles?

When 150,000 people, give or take, attend your ginormously popular free events, you can bet that there's a healthy level of excitement when details of future events are revealed.

CicLAvia, the come-one-come-tens-of-thousands bike roll, has stirred up plenty of anticipation over what streets the thrice-a-year spoke spectacular would choose. Would it be a new thoroughfare? A return to a favorite spot? A mix of the two? What boulevard would it be completely a gas to pedal down, without having to face gas-powered vehicles?

The organization made the announcement on Thursday, Jan. 23. Call it a combo deal, with a return to a favorite and some new energy and roads, too.

Iconic Wilshire Boulevard is set for April 6. Yep, CicLAvia took on the Miracle Mile-to-downtown route last year, but call it very well-received. Those popular pedestrian zones will be back, too.

Heart of LA is back as well, on Oct. 5. It won't be quite the same as the prevous downtown-and-Olvera route, with new dips into Echo Park and a Grand Park whizz-by. Call this one a return of an old friend but perhaps with a new jacket. Or bike helmet? You get the analogy.

South Los Angeles is the ride's new addition. The date's Dec. 7, and both Central Avenue and Leimert Park will be on the pedal-nice map.

And check it out, Valley people: CicLAvia is working on an SFV route for 2015. Plus, the ride'll roll again to the ocean again next year. Forethinking? Pre-planning? Yes and yes.
