Conserve Energy SoCal's ‘Hot Days, Hot Deals'

Even the Pacific Wheel is getting in on the lively summer fun.

One of the stars of summer hasn't been on television, or the radio, but at one end of the Santa Monica Pier.

We speak of the Pacific Wheel, the world's only solar-powered Ferris wheel, a Pacific-close icon that recently underwent a full-on lighting update (one that allows for lower energy usage and a wider spectrum of hues and patterns).

Thus it fits that the conservation-minded initiative Conserve Energy SoCal would partner with the Santa Monica Pier attraction for the organization's "Hot Days, Hot Deals" happening, an every-Wednesday event that's landing at spots around the region.

Landing and giving discounts and/or delights, courtesy of the Energy Providers of Southern California group. The delights will be seen on a large scale at the Pacific Wheel on Wednesday, July 20 when "a special light show in honor of energy conservation" twinkles after the sun dips into the adjacent ocean.

Could you see a giant light bulb on the side of the Ferris wheel? A sparkly sun? The shows will twinkle on "select Wednesdays" throughout the summer, so keep a watch if you're pier-adjacent on a warm-weather mid-week night.

Other quirky deals around town await, including gourmet paletas at Diablo's Tacos. The interesting twist? You'll pay whatever the temperature is, each Wednesday, for the goodie (so if it is 90 out, find 90 cents).

The Escape Room is also shaving a tenner off Wednesday night adventures throughout August and September.
