Ever had the privilege of being made an honorary member of something?
You were likely pretty pleased, or chuffed, even. You might have gotten to wear a special button. You might have even bragged about it, to the people in your life you can easily brag to, without shame.
There are no buttons, nor bragging, when it comes to the next topic, but this much is true: Thursday night, in the summertime, is practically an honorary member of the weekend.
Which means that special, snazzy, colorful, super-fun, chill-down events that pop-up over a series of Thursday possess a vibe we associate with Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Take Tiki Thursdays, which are flowering, like a gorgeous orchid, at the J.W. Marriott Los Angeles LA Live through Sept. 5, 2019.
Revelers ready to experience some of that weekend-y wonderfulness, as well as a selection of beautiful-to-admire, lovely-to-taste rum drinks, will want to make for The Mixing Room's patio from 5 p.m. to close.

And while the tiki-styled drinks are commanding our attention, understandably, there are foodstuffs that go well with rum-based and coconut-cool cocktails, like Crab Cake Sliders (think pineapple chutney and Hawaiian rolls) and Kalua Pork.
Music from the islands? Oh yes. There'll be a DJ on hand, to spin the sweet-breeze'd songs. Wearing your favorite lei or aloha shirt? You absolutely should.
For Thursday evenings at this DTLA spot, at least through the Thursday after Labor Day, are really taking on that weekend vibe.
That we're also heading into the hottest part of the season makes Tiki Thursdays especially refreshing to ponder, and more than refreshing to visit.
