The words "indulgence" and "holidays" are old pals. Where one appears the other often follows, making them two parts of a greater gastronomic whole.
But one of the curious things about the eatingest season of the year is that the same dishes tend to be revisited. That's tradition, and we want to enjoy the same rum balls and turkey we have for the last few decades.
Which makes dineLA's annual appearance on the scene each January rather perfect, and perfect in two ways.
The first, of course, is that dineLA, SoCal's premier restaurant week, is synonymous with eat-out discounts. There probably isn't a person around that doesn't get why that's so timely come the start of the year, when many people are reviewing their personal budgets.
Participating restaurants, which number in the hundreds, set the prix fixe lunch menus from $15-$25 and dinner menus from $25-$45.
The second way the January dineLA is rather well-timed is exactly because December is about tried-and-true foods for so many people. Even adventurous eaters stick to dishes they know come the holidays. But a restaurant week is all about trying out fresh bites and different dishes and a piece of fish you've never had before or a dessert you wouldn't normally order.
It makes a nice complement to December dining, in short.
