37 Places to Look at ArtWalk Culver City

It's free, and it covers a lot. Plus music, too. And dance.

The galleries of Culver City cover the gamut of lookery pretty much every day of the year. Animation. Excellent paintings. Video and sculpture.

But come a summer Saturday, the galleries gather together, if not physically, then spiritually, to celebrate. ArtWalk Culver City is the annual spotlighting of the plentiful and mind-challenging cultural offerings of the area. The 2010 date is Saturday, June 5, and some 37 galleries are ready to be door-open and part of the day.

There will also be an African drum circle, painting opportunities, jazz and urban Latin dance happening at points around the community.

We're looking forward to stopping by the WWA gallery, where a Julian Callos exhibit is currently running; we're also sweet on Corey Helford, which has An Art from the New World show on.

You can see absolutely everything at every place, if you get your rest and start early and clear your schedule. ArtWalk is eight hours long, from noon to 8 p.m., and it is free free free.

Please look at parking suggestions before you go, though. The ArtWalk site has some fine pointers for the driving set.
