90-Year-Old Attempts Fitness Records, Charity

Can't do many pull ups? Imagine trying at 90.

Moe Carson, a 90-year-old former acrobat, will attempt to break two athletic world records next weekend to help raise money for a Coachella Valley homeless shelter.

Carson, who is a fitness trainer at Gold's Gym (did we say he's 90?), will try to break the world record for the number of chin-ups and parallel bar dips in the men's 90-year-old and up category.

Donations will benefit the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission's Build New Beginning Campaign, with the aim of raising $12 million to construct a new building, according to the mission's Greg Fisher.

Saturday's 10:30 a.m. event at Gold's Gym on Country Club Drive in Palm Desert is open to the public.

The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission, which was founded in 1971, provides 80,000 hot meals annually and shelters thousands of men and women with children.
