A Bright Light for LACMA Film

The fantastic news that broke just last week was met with cheers and relief: LACMA's weekend film series would continue, at least through the end of summer 2010, sponsors had been found, and the fans and supporters and lovers of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art could high-five each other for a grassroots effort that was well done.

Now that the high-fiving -- and we say high-fiving in the best, most awesome sense, of course -- is dying down, the real work begins. Going to movies, regularly, at the museum, so attendance doesn't lag. Spreading the word. And signing up for the new CineClub, a fresh way to lend support.

LACMA sent the word out about the brand new CineClub on Tuesday afternoon. Here's the deal: You can help the museum's film program with a $50 add-on to your membership. And that's any level of LACMA membership, which is nice. What you'll get (besides that glowing feeling and the desire to high-five some more): advance word on film nights, priority tickets/seats, and a monthly newsletter. Details details.

Love it, LACMA.  Love it, everyone who came out/spoke out about the film weekends. See you at the cinema, CineClubbers!
