All Lit Up Over Free Museum Day

Free Museum Day is Sept. 25. Where to go first?

How can Sept. 25 mean both free admission at our national parks -- it is a celebration of National Public Lands Day -- and free admission at many of our museums, too, courtesy of Smithsonian Media?

It's kind of like when two shows you've been wanting to see get scheduled for the same time. Well, we now have DVR technology for that particular (and particularly small) dilemma, but there's no DVR for Saturday, Sept. 25, meaning we have to choose between two excellent things.

Museum Day is going on around the nation at select museums on Sept. 25; those museums in and near Los Angeles include the Museum of Neon Art, the Palos Verdes Art Center, and the Museum of Latin American Art. There are a lot of little orange pins on the map noting participating places, including a whole slew in Orange County, so have a look around.

You will need a ticket ahead of time, and there are details on that at the Smithsonian Media site, so read all before your planned museuming.

Thank you, Smithsonian Media. Really. The Smithsonian. If ever you could hug a building, would it be the American History Museum? We might try next time we're in our nation's capital.
