When fans of all things fried, cinematic, and summer-night-y heard last month that the popular Outdoor Cinema Food Fest was going to shutter, there was a collective "awww, dang!" heard around town.
Some people probably even thrust their hands in their pockets and kicked the ground, peevishly.
But recent news that the co-producers of that party will be back with Street Food Cinema during the summer of '12 brighten things considerably. Now those forward-thinking film lovers have dropped NBC a line with an exclusive peek at their big summer line-up.
"Napoleon Dynamite" opens the weekly Saturday series on May 26; "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" closes it on Sept. 1 (you might have guessed that it'll stretch from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend; if so, your guess is correct).
Most of the movies will roll at Exposition Park. Tasty foodstuffs will be sold on site -- hi, it is in the name -- and music from local up-and-comers will be played in a live fashion, too. (Bonus: You're allowed to enter with your own grub and beverages.)
Dance-offs, blanket giveaways, and other summer-sweet goodies are in the big Street Food Cinema bucket, so you'll want to do all the usual things like following them on Facebook and places on the internet where information is given and shared.
Here's the schedule. What will you see? What will you eat while watching it? And aren't you happy it is nearly summer?
