It's not an air-tight June-Gloom-banisher, but predicting the true start of summer in Los Angeles at least keeps us occupied during these marine-layer-y mornings.
The jacarandas blooming is one herald. The opening of the first true blockbuster is another. But the one-two Hollywood Bowl line-up of the Playboy Jazz Festival, followed the Mariachi USA Festival the weekend after, is pretty much like summer knocking at our giant LA door.
So. Helloooo summer. The Playboy Jazz Festival is happening in 2010 on Saturday, June 12 and Sunday, June 13. Mr. Bill Cosby returns to host, and stars return to the shell-domed stage. Crooner George Benson will be there, Manhattan Transfer will be doo-wopping, the Chick Corea Freedom Band will be traveling all those sparkly surprising soundways.
Twenty bucks is the starter ticket price.
