Bock Fest 2011

Sip suds at a festive Saturday afternoon event.

Late September and all of October may practically own the idea of a beer-centered festival, at least in our hearts, minds, and empty mugs, but mid-January is a fine time for suds, especially if the drink in question is deemed a "Winter Warmer."

Two lovely words right next to each other. If you're linking bocks and beers, you'd be correct, and if you're thinking we're mentioning this because there is a bockly bash just ahead, you'd be right again. It's on Saturday, Jan. 15, from 1-5 p.m., at The Olympic Collection on West Olympic Boulevard.

We also make mention of Bock Fest now because, unlike some of the October parties, tickets will not be sold at the door; you'll need to look into those in advance. Price is $35, plus a bit extra.

The organizers mention "local charities" will be beneficiaries of the day. Don't forget to invite your pal, the designated driver, since each ticket comes with "a souvenir mug and unlimited drinking."
