Brat Pack Memories at Book Soup

An author looks back at a famous gaggle of actors.

Would be exaggerating if we guessed that 60 percent of all thirty-to-fortysomethings in possession of a device that accesses the Internet began Facebooking, furiously, during the John Hughes segment of the Oscars?

Maybe a wee bit. But if the social networks are any indication, and they seem to be one of the only current indications, that was the moment of the night that struck a chord with a large segment of viewers.

If that chord was struck with you, best get to Book Soup on Tuesday, March 9. Author Susannah Gora will be chatting about her new book "You Couldn't Ignore Me If You Tried: The Brat Pack, John Hughes, and Their Impact on a Generation," which details that heady time, courtesy of in-depth interviews with people like Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall.

The first part of the title, of course, comes from "The Breakfast Club," but then you knew that, right? John Bender?

Break out the Bender-esque leather and attitude and get your book signed.
