Boy Scout fundraisers can rappel down iconic Bonaventure Hotel

Finally, Angeleno extreme-sport enthusiasts can rejoice.

Sixty-four contenders can rappel off the side of a Los Angeles icon -- the Westin Bonaventure Hotel -- as a part of "Over the Edge," on Friday, Oct. 29.

The hotel is allowing people to dangle off its building as part of a fundraising event for the Boy Scouts of America.

Participation requires registration and raising $1,000 in order to be strapped into a harness and climb down the 367-foot, 35-story hotel. The fundraising event is part of the 100th anniversary celebration for the Boy Scouts of America.

Despite the $1,000 ante, this event is open to anyone over 18. Training is available on site and plenty of rappelling experts will be on hand to ensure safety.

Nate Nusbaum, the chief development officer for the LA chapter of the Boy Scouts of America, said in an interview with the Los Angeles Downtown News, that he is expecting some participants dressed in costume.

"As long as they’re not wearing capes, they can dress up as Spider-Man," he said. "The event will be held the week of Halloween, so some people are probably going to do it."

You can fulfill your Spider-Man dreams by registering at "Over the Edge."
