Fashions from Literature Fashion Show

Heritage Square is setting up the vintage runway.

We generally don't read books for descriptions of clothing, unless, of course, the title is "The Big Book of Clothing Descriptions." But sartorial fancies are an important part of every tale, lending texture and color and character to the characters.

So when a fashion show comes around that fully focuses on the fashions of literature, we unhand that leather-bound tome, don some breeches and find a spot alongside the catwalk. Such a show is going down at Heritage Square on Saturday, March 26, and there'll be tea-sipping and house-admiring to boot. Well, to lace-up boot, with a little square toe, rather.

Heritage Square says this event tends to sell-out, so we'd get on those advance tickets. Also, the fashion show was organized by Costumer's Guild West, meaning that people in the audience are likely to be as gussied as the models on stage. Meaning that if you've been looking for a place to wear those satin, elbow-length evening gloves, the place is at 3800 Homer Street on Saturday, March 26.

A ticket is $20. Will your favorite character get a shout-out? Someone better be Darcy'd out. That's our wish, and we know we're not alone. Darcy's not hard, right? A high, stiff collar, a pair of tails, and a save-me-Elizabeth scowl? Done.
