Fiesta Hermosa Goes Green in 2010

It's the big, summer-bookending beach party that brims with good vibes and green solutions. Fiesta Hermosa is packed with more than 270 artists, including painters, photographers, ceramic makers, jewelers and more. The festival takes place this Labor Day Weekend in downtown Hermosa Beach.

This year’s festival goes green in a big way. Buses and generators will be fueled with clean-burning biodiesel. The fuel is made from used vegetable oil donated by local restaurants Patrick Molloy’s, Sangria, and Café Boogaloo. Glass and plastic containers will be recycled by Consolidated Disposal, and the food court vendors will be using bio-degradable plates and cutlery.

Ride your bike, and park in the guarded sand lot just south of the Hermosa Pier. Hermosa Cyclery will valet park your bike in a free lot, offer air for tires, and on-site diagnostic checkups while you enjoy the festival.

With the ocean as a backdrop, go nuts and shop for sun hats, wind chimes, ocean-y crafts. Take the opportunity to eat something that's in a bun, groove out to tunes, relax on the beach and stretch out.

The festival's popular Charity Beer & Wine Garden features microbrews from the Union Cattle Company. Five different beers, a selection of wines, and icy coolers are served by town celebrities, including the mayor, city councilmen, and non-profit organizations.

All proceeds are returned to the participating organizations for their good works in the community.
