Food & Wine & She & Him

The Paramount party has chef-y bites, plus a concert.

"Tickets are going fast," said the latest missive we just received from the Los Angeles Times Celebration of Food & Wine, and we believe it.

To drive the point home a big red "Sold Out" has been unfurled across the VIP tickets section. But, on the turn-that-frown-upside-down front, there are still general online tickets available for the Sunday, Sept. 5 to-do. They're $55 each, but that's ahead of time, note. They'll go up at the door, but then you probably knew that.

So, what's happening that day besides you leaning over various small plates and biting into things of a chewy and/or crunchy and/or tangy nature? You'll enjoy the beautiful, movie-riffic setting of Paramount Studios. You'll taste delicious savories made by the likes of Suzanne Goin, Mark Peel, and Jimmy Shaw of the lovely Loteria Grill.

And you'll enjoy a musicale presentation from the act known as She & Him. If you want to just go to the concert, and skip the eating part, you can; tickets are $40.

Will there be food trucks? Yes. If we could travel back in time and not ask that question we would, just to save on internet space. There will be food trucks. This is something to count on. And for this we are glad.

Other things are happening, cocktail mixing demos, book signings. And it's a long 'un, too; noon-8 p.m. This is nice, because no one likes to be rushed while eating food made by famous chefs at a famous movie studio while listening to a top group. No one.
