Four Days + 70 Galleries=Art Art Art

Art Los Angeles Contemporary moves to Barker Hangar.

January may get its knocks elsewhere for being a) dreary and b) damp and c) commute-extend-y and d) frankly unfun, but here in Los Angeles, things are different.

Not to be all braggy, but the weather this month? Definitely saying sorry for December. And the art and ideas abloom this month? Typical for Los Angeles in January.

Because January is Los Angeles Arts Month, and painting-rich, print-heavy fairs pop up from hither to yon. Big fairs. And the final one is happening from Jan. 27-30, at Barker Hangar.

It's Art Los Angeles Contemporary, it's year two, and it is a new venue; if you went last year, you went to the Pacific Design Center. Outing dos will have 70 galleries showing, plus talks, plus to-dos, plus all the attendant arty additions a spectacular of this size comes with.

Translation: Music, lots of it, from acts like Sun Foot, plus activities of a cinematic, performance-y nature.

A one-day pass is $18.
