Acoustic goodness, surf strumming, and Rat Pack songs rule.

You spent how much on school supplies? You bought a hundred new pencils and bright pink erasers? You're going to really practice your cursive this year? Well. Bravo. We take no issue on how money is spent come mid-August, because, big or small, we all love a freshly sharpened pencil. Or a hundred of 'em.

But the whole money-saving thing does come to mind just about now. Which makes these three music go-outs, which are happening over the next handful of days, especially appealing.

Surf Guitar: The Twilight Dance Series is just a few Thursdays from wrapping, so the time is nigh for skedaddling toward the ocean. We're picking the Thursday, Aug. 18 show because, yeah, surf guitar. Next to the Pacific. If you're sweet on twangy strumming, be sweet on it by the waves. 7 p.m.

Rat Pack Sing-Along: What's your style on warbling "My Way"? Do you make the "My" super-long, or do you draw out the "Way" like "waaaaaay"? We all do our thing. And we'll get a chance to do it at the Friday, Aug. 19 sing-along. It's at the Keck Amphitheatre at Disney Hall. It's free, but tickets are required.

Acoustic Show at Silverlake Lounge: Jessie Deluxe, Divided Heaven, and Ampersand are all playing an afternoon show on Sunday, Aug. 21. We know, an afternoon show! Like. It's from 4 to 6 p.m., and is free free free. If you want a beverage, you'll pay three dollars for a brew or well drink.
