From Broadway to LA: “Next to Normal” Comes to the Ahmanson

The Tony Award winning show runs through Jan. 2

After more than 700 performances in New York City, the Tony Award winning musical "Next to Normal" is coming to Los Angeles. The show opens at the Ahmanson Theatre on Tuesday, and runs through the beginning of next year.

"Next to Normal," according to the show's official website, is an "emotional powerhouse of a musical about a family trying to take care of themselves and each other."

Directed by Michael Greif, who also directed "RENT," this Broadway hit has won three Tony Awards as well as the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for drama, reports TheaterMania.com.

According to the Associated Press, The Los Angeles performances are just the beginning of a 36-week nationwide tour for the musical. Other stops include Denver, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Hartford, St. Louis, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Washington DC and more.
