Gobble Gobble Give

Lending a hand at The Echo.

Volunteering for thousands of Angelenos is a year-round calling, but come Thanksgiving, many people are looking to do more.

And while many of the volunteers will be called up on to dish up food, there will be myriad needs at several organizations, including setting up chairs or folding tables or collecting toys or unpacking cutlery and tableware.

One truly grass-rootsy gathering is Gobble Gobble Give at the Echo. About a decade ago some pals got together to cook some meals for neighbors in need; now Gobble Gobble Give says that some 1,500 homeless people around Echo Park not only are served Thanksgiving dinner but leave with toothbrush kits and clothing.

It's happening from 10AM-1PM on Thanksgiving at the Echo. If you can't be there in person, you can donate online.

The Union Station Homeless Services kept its pre-registration for Thanksgiving volunteers open through 5PM on Tuesday, November 24th. There are also volunteering opportunities on Wednesday and Friday, before and after the holiday, but clean-up help is definitely needed on Thanksgiving afternoon. Get details now.
