Enjoy Dickens while paying what you can on Thursday, Oct. 28 at A Noise Within.

We've rifled and dug through our mental Charles Dickens files, and cannot recall a plot line involving the "pay-what-you-can" concept. There may very well be one, of course, since the author famously wove in themes of generosity and want into so many of his tales.

With that in mind, we can probably call "pay what you can" truly Dickensian in spirit, making it the perfect fit for the upcoming production of "Great Expectations" at A Noise Within. While the show opens on Saturday, Oct. 30, there is a pay-what-you-can night on Thursday, Oct. 28.

There's a cap of two tickets per buyer, and there is a ten-buck suggestion (not bad at all). Get yours after 2 p.m. on the 28th at the theater box office (located in Glendale).

By the by, "Great Expectations" turns 150 this year. We mention Scrooge above, but of course Pip is the central lad in this Havishamian tome. A Noise Within's "Great" outing lasts through Sunday, Dec. 19.
