How Do You Take Your Scrooge? Choices Abound

Starry Scrooge: This one is a biggie -- Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown from "Back to the Future"!) is Scrooge, and the headliner-y cast -- John Goodman and Jane Seymour are also featured -- impresses. Starts at the Kodak Theatre on Monday, December 22.

London in the Valley: Young actors are the highlight of the Cal State Northridge production of the Dickens play (some parents are even cast as well). See it at CSUN's Plaza del Sol Performance Hall, on Saturday, December 13 and Sunday, December 14.

Experienced Scrooge: Hal Landon Jr. has famously played Ebenezer for nearly three decades; we're guessing the twinkly-eyed, top-hatted actor knows how to "humbug" with flair and accuracy. The spirits roam at South Coast Rep in Costa Mesa through December 27.

Geffen's Ghosts of Christmas Present: The Playhouse Players -- actors ages 6 to 12 -- stage a zippier (read: quicker) version of the play. Bonus? Charles Dickens narrates (or someone portraying him -- we think?). December 13, 11AM at the Geffen Playhouse in Westwood.

Mulholland Meets Marley: The historic LA figure starring as Mr. Scrooge himself? Yes, that's William Mulholland you see before you. Uproarious and full of insider-y asides. At Sacred Fools through December 21.
