    "Bob Baker's Halloween Hoop-de-Doo" runs through Oct. 31, 2010.

Ask anyone, and they'll probably say they like their Halloween in a very specific way. They want a tour of real homes that have a certain atmosphere. They want a behind-the-scenes look at how a famous theme park approaches the holiday. They want to go on an old-school hayride with plenty of made-for-grown-ups scares.

But everyone can agree that LA's own Bob Baker is a treasure, and his Halloween-themed marionette show can fit onto any October schedule, regardless of how you celebrate the spooky. Mr. Baker, of course, has been lionized near and far for his whimsical and sassy stage shows, shows that have the puppeteers walking out into the performance area with the marionettes they make dance.

"Bob Baker's Halloween Hoop-De-Doo" is running through Sunday, Oct. 31, it is an hour, and a ticket is $20 (children under 2 are admitted free). Shows run every day but Monday.

We should also mention that this is Mr. Baker's 50th season, and if you've never been to his story-filled theater, the 50th season is an excellent time to go. But you've been, of course, we hope, if you've called this city home at any point over the last half century. And if you have a heart open to whimsy and traditional puppeteering, which, of course, you do.
