Mark Your 2012 Calendars, Fans of Michael Jackson and Cirque

The big tribute spectacular arrives in Los Angeles in January 2012.

Like many people, we've barely grasped that we're no longer in the "aughts" portion of this century, and saying "2011" still does not roll of the tongue.

But now many people will need to look ahead to 2012 following a Nov. 3 announcement by the Estate of Michael Jackson and Cirque du Soleil. The whimsical acrobatics force has famously taken the music and legend of Elvis Presley and the Beatles; next up, they'll be walking, if proverbially, the lit-up squares of "Billie Jean" and exploring "Human Nature," as well as a bevy of other Jacksonian hits.

"Michael Jackson The IMMORTAL World Tour" actually kicks off in October 2011 in Montreal, the homebase of the troupe. But the Jamie King-directed spectacular won't make its Los Angeles debut before 2012. January 27, 2012 to be specific, at Staples Center. (Many fans will naturally think of the singer's public memorial service, which was also held at Staples Center on July 7, 2009.) SoCalers who want to take in the show more than once will want to note that The IMMORTAL Tour lands in Orange County a few days ahead of LA.

Tickets go on sale in several cities to the general public on Saturday, Nov. 6. Purchased any seats for anything in 2012 yet? This might be your first. Get details now.
