OC Weekend: Roller Derby and Lucha VaVoom

OC ROLLER GIRLS: The team names, of course, are outlandish and fierce and perfect: The Back Bay Bombshells and The Psycho Ex-Girlfriends. The bout is on the flat track at Coast to Coast Hockey. Fish nets, electric eyeliner and sticker-laden helmets are the uniforms/costumes. And the players' handles include Atomic Betty, Street Cred, and In Your Face (all on the Bombshells); the Psycho Ex-G's boast Free Samples, Kryptonite, and KellKat. Think you're ready for the steam-heat action and loose-limbed, full-on jams? Have a few "go-go-go" shouts to give? Then you're ready, my friend. Saturday, January 31, 7PM. 5555 McFadden Avenue, Huntington Beach. 714-614-3230

LUCHA VAVOOM: Burlesque with bite, masked wrestlers jumping from the ropes and fast-talking comic commentary that is often so quick you wish you had a remote with a "rewind" button: it's Lucha VaVoom time again, but, rather than making merry (and mayhem) at the Mayan, the whole sequined, hip-grinding, skin-baring crew is taking it on the road to the Grove of Anaheim. If you can't get out  of work early enough to hit the Friday, January 30 Anaheim show, they're headed up to Ventura on Saturday, January 31, to do all the dastardly, utterly delicious things they do all over again. One more tantalizing draw: hula hoops. Oh yes. Friday, January 30, 9PM. The Grove of Anaheim, 2200 E. Katella Avenue, Anaheim. 714-712-2700
